Molecular sieve is the best desiccant based on technical performance characteristics.

Its ability to absorb moisture, in this case water vapor, is so pronounced that it can remove trapped H20 molecules from a fully saturated silica gel bead.

3A molecular sieves structure allows water vapor adsorption but excludes most hydrocarbons. 3A is good for ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and polar liquids.

Molecular sieves are synthetic porous crystalline aluminosilicates which have been engineered to have a very strong affinity for specifically sized molecules.

The definitive feature of the molecular sieve structure, as compared to other desiccant medias, is the uniformity of the pore size openings.

Molecular sieve can trap water vapor to temperatures well past 225°C in some cases, and due to its high affinity for water vapor, molecular sieve is able to bring the relative humidity (RH) in environments down to as low as 1% RH.

This desiccant has been specifically developed for use in insulating glass production, however could be used for many purposes from use with electronic equipment to sensitive mechanisms like watches and cameras and can be used for motorhomes and cars to cupboards to filing cabinets.

Regeneration Procedure

1. Preheat a clean grill or oven to 400˚F. Do NOT expose Type 3A molecular sieve to temperatures above 450˚F as this will rapidly destroy the crystalline structure.

2. Prepare a metal cookie sheet by covering it with aluminium foil for easy clean up.

3. Evenly distribute the molecular sieve across the cookie sheet, leave uncovered, and place on the preheated grill or in the oven.

4. The time for regeneration varies for each oven, but the process can take around 2-8 hours depending on volume, equipment, etc.; stir every half hour or so to allow condensed moisture to escape and for even regeneration.

5. Once regenerated, allow material to cool for at least an hour before handing or placing in storage.

6. You can reuse molecular sieve multiple times as long as proper regeneration steps are followed. Repeat when necessary.
